The third segment of the antennae is a little narrower and shorter than the second and in males not even half the length of the fourth which is enlarged and thickened [Abb. 1].

Body uniformly yellowish-brown [Abb. 2], with the head usually brown. Upper surface with very fine silky shining hairs; puncturation very fine. Each elytron with an even impression before the middle. Antennae thickened and long. Length 1.8-2.3 mm. Widely distributed in Europe but usually rare to very rare. Associated with rotting deciduous wood. ...populneus (Creutzer in Panzer, 1796)
